Are Artist’s Loft Markers refillable?

Unfortunately these Dual tip markers are not refillable. Even though they are not refillable they are good quality and will last you a long time if you take care of them.

Are the Artist’s Loft Watercolor Dual Tip Markers good for beginners?

If you are brand new to brush lettering then I recommend starting with a small tip brush pen like Tombow Fudenosuke or Pentel Arts Touch Sign Pen. The smaller pen size allows for easier control of the brush tip. When you are first starting out this is important because you are still developing your control. Once you are more familiar with your brush lettering alphabet and want to try a larger brush pen then these Dual Tip Watercolor markers are a great option.

How to Use Artist’s Loft Watercolor Dual Tip Markers

When it comes to using brush pens for watercolor projects there are three main blending methods you can use.

  1. Tip to Tip – Take one color and add it to the tip of the other brush pen. When you go to write you will send the colors blend together. As you continue to write the color will work off the brush pen so you don’t have to worry about it staining.
  1. Using a Colorless blender – On your paper apply the two colors you want to blend next to each other and then you can use the colorless blender to blend them together.
  1. Use a blending pad – Take the colors you want and write on a blending pad. From here you can use a watercolor brush to pick up the watercolor ink from the blending pad and then write on your paper. Check out our guide on the best water brush pens to use for your watercolor project.

What is the best paper for Artist’s Loft Watercolor Dual Tip markers?

When using the brush tip you want to make sure that you are using smooth paper. My go to paper is HP Premium 20. One important thing to know is that watercolor paper is not smooth and can potentially lead to fraying of your brush tip. In this case if you do plan on doing a lot of watercolor projects that require a lot of blending then consider using the third method above where you use a blending pad and a watercolor brush. This way you can still have the vibrancy of the watercolor ink, but by using the watercolor brush instead you can prolong the life of your brush pens.
