In this article we are going to be reviewing the Pentel Arts Fude Touch Sign Brush Pen. If you are new to hand lettering or are just looking for a new brush pen to try then you are in the right place. Not all brush pens are the same. Keep reading to learn more and decide if this is the right brush pen for you.
Pentel Arts Fude Touch Sign Brush Pen: Is it worth it?
1 Size: The Pentel Arts Fude Touch Sign brush pen features a fine brush tip.
Blendable: This brush pen is water based and can be easily blended with water. You can use it for watercolor and hand lettering projects.
Ink won’t dry out: The brush and ink has been designed to not dry out. So if you forget to put the cap back on you won’t have to worry about your pen drying out. I don’t know if I necessarily want to test this theory out, but it can give you some peace of mind.
Colors: The Pentel Arts Fude Touch Sign brush pen comes in 24 different colors including black.
The Primary color pack includes: black, blue, brown, gray, green, orange, pink, red, sky blue, violet, yellow, and yellow ochre.

Is the Pentel Arts Fude Touch Sign Brush Pen good for beginners?
Yes, the Pentel Arts Fude Touch Sign brush pen is good for beginners learning brush lettering. I always recommend beginners start out with a small brush pen. Since this pen features a fine brush tip it is easier to control. However, the tip is still soft enough that you can get good variation between the thin upstrokes and thick downstrokes.
Here is a sample of the basic strokes and alphabet using the Pentel Arts Fude Touch Sign brush pen.
Best paper for your Brush Pen
When you use a brush pen you want to make sure you use smooth paper. If the paper is rough it can be hard on your brush pens, which can eventually lead your brush pen to fray.
Normal copy printer paper is rough. My favorite smooth paper to practice with is HP Premium 32 paper. It is great for everyday practice, but if you want something a little more thicker for your end-product designs then try Bristol paper.
Where can you buy the Pentel Arts Fude Touch Sign brush pen?
The original primary color pack is easy to find on Amazon. The newer 2020 color release is harder to find and not readily available in U.S. stores yet. You can find the new 2020 colors on Etsy or get the 24 color bundle.
How to Store your Pentel Arts Fude Touch Sign brush pen
Since it is a water based pen you can store the Pentel Arts Fude Touch Sign brush pen either horizontal or vertically.
Here are some of my favorite brush pen storage options:
- U.S. Art Supply Multi-level storage rack
- ArtBin plastic storage case
- Crafter’s companion Marker Storage Pack
Best Small Brush Pen Alternatives:
If you are unsure if this is the right pen for you consider these other small brush pen options:
